10 inch jet lift dredger

Jet dredger jet dredger is mainly installed on board with jet pump dredger equipment. The general arrangement of this dredger is shown in figure 1.2.8-6. The jet pump on board is a kind of fluid machinery, which transmits energy by turbulent action of high speed moving fluid, thus pumping sediment from underwater soil layer. Therefore, jet dredger is a kind of hydraulic dredger, which is driven by water flow. Jet pump can not only be used for water dredging, but also widely used in chemical industry, light industry and metallurgy. Jet dredger structure and its working principle jet dredger can usually be assembled, the hull can be disassembled into several sections (see figure 1.2.8-=7.6)

Working principle of jet pump:

A working fluid with a certain energy, that is, a certain pressure and flow rate, is ejected through the nozzle in to form a high speed jet. Because of the interaction between the high speed jet and the air, the air in the room is taken away, so that the space produces a certain negative pressure (vacuum degree). Under the action of external atmospheric pressure and liquid static pressure, the fluid is pumped into its suction chamber from the suction port and enters the throat with high speed working fluid for energy conversion. In this pipe, due to the turbulent action of liquid molecules, a high speed working fluid passes part of kinetic energy to the pumped fluid, and the flow rate of the working fluid gradually slows down, while the velocity of the sucked fluid gradually accelerates. The jet dredger can not only excavate the soil layer containing gravel and pebbles, but also be used for the excavation and transportation of flammable, explosive, toxic and appliance radioactive substances in chemical, light and metallurgical industries. It is suitable for working in special environment such as high temperature, high pressure, deep water, high vacuum, strong radiation and strong corrosion. In addition to the main suction machine for dredging and other ships, the jet pump can also be used as an auxiliary equipment for the suction dredger. It is installed in the underwater suction pipe to increase the mud concentration of the suction dredger and increase its digging ability. The concentration of mud can reach about 40%, and the suitable depth of dredging can be deepened from 18 m to 33 m.

Jet dredger also has some limitations, mainly:

The hydraulic efficiency of the jet pump is low, only 30%~40%, and the hydraulic efficiency of the multi-spout jet pump installed on the suction pipe of the suction ship is only about 20%.

Limited by the pipe diameter of the jet pump, it is not suitable to excavate the hard material of the larger diameter stone and the soil layer with ductile debris such as tree roots and weeds.

Because the outlet pressure of the jet pump has the characteristics of steep drop, its head is very low and the discharge distance is short.
