Dredging Work by Cutter Suction Dredger ->>>
The cutter suction dredger can complete all dredging work of excavation, transportation, discharge, and treatment of mud in one time, and can do continous construction work as its big advantage.
Working Method : Vacuum is generated in the pumping process by centrifugal mud pump on board of cutter suction dredger, and the excavated mud is sucked in and lifted through the suction pipe before being discharged through the ship's mud conveying pipe.
Working by Cutter
At the inlet of the suction pipe, a rotating cutter device iscoupled. The reamer does cutting and loosening the sediment in the underwater soil layer which allows more sediment to be sucked in through the suction head, thereby increasing mud concentration, improving dredging productivity, and greatly expanding the range of soil that can be excavated.
About Positioning and Lifting
Most cutter suction dredgers are equipped with positioning steel piles and lifting devices for steel piles, which are used for positioning the dredger, side movement and swinging of the hull, and longitudinal movement during dredging work.
So, the cutter suction dredger uses a mechanical cutter device to cut the soil layer, and then uses a mud pump to suck in and discharge the mixture of sediment and water. The schematic diagram of the cutter suction dredger is shown in Figure below.
